ProCam at The Dairy Show

Leading agronomy firm ProCam is exhibiting at The Dairy Show to highlight ways to improve maize nutrition next season by using alternative sources of nutrients such as foliar applied nitrogen, and using targeted variable rate drone technology to maximise input efficacy. Following a second dry season in a row, maize growers will be looking for ways to build greater resilience into their nutrition programmes, with ProCam agronomist George Cornwall indicating that this could be achieved through the application of foliar nutrients as a means of ensuring an immediate crop response during periods of stress. “Applying a foliar fertiliser allows the crop to access nitrogen immediately,” George explains. “In contrast, ‘conventional’ granular fertilisers require soil moisture to be available so that nitrogen can be converted into plant accessible forms. In periods of drought and crop stress, making nutrition accessible to the plant quickly and easily is essential.”
