Love British Food launches search for a Champion of Change in its anniversary year

Love British Food, the organiser of British Food Fortnight, and its official retail partner, Morrisons, have launched the 2026 Community Competition to find and celebrate an inspirational individual, community group or organisation creating meaningful change through British food. The Champion of Change title recognises practical action that builds a deeper connection with British produce, through growing, sourcing, cooking, serving, educating or widening access. The competition runs as part of the 25 th anniversary celebrations for British Food Fortnight, which takes place from Saturday 26 September to Sunday 11 October 2026. Entries are welcomed from across the supply chain, including foodservice, hospitality, manufacturing, retail, agriculture and horticulture, as well as education, healthcare, local governments, and community initiatives. Love British Food founder, Alexia Robinson, says: “In our 25th anniversary year, we want to find and celebrate people who are making a profound difference at a grassroots level. “That could be a community leader finding new ways to make fresh British produce more accessible, a farmer or grower building stronger links with their local community, a school or hospital putting more British food on its menus or a caterer helping people understand where their food comes from. “British food has an important role to play in bringing people together. Within this community initiatives can play an important role in enabling local supply chains to help make good food available to all, promote its value and demonstrate why choosing British matters.”

Bringing farmers, food businesses, community organisations and public institutions together around shared outcomes can help build stronger local food systems, keep more value where food is produced, and create opportunities to support nutritional education, health and community wellbeing. Morrisons Community Manager, Joseph Clark-Bland, said: “As a champion of British food, Morrisons is proud to support British Food Fortnight’s Community Competition and this year’s search for a worthy Champion of Change. “This is a chance to celebrate the unsung heroes who are working tirelessly to make British food the first choice on every plate. “The competition provides an exciting platform to recognise those having a lasting impact on their communities by developing a stronger connection with British food.”

Who could be a Champion of Change? Judges want to hear about people, groups and organisations that are:

Championing British produce in schools, universities, care homes, hospitals, restaurants, businesses, farms or local communities. Making a measurable difference by reducing food waste or food miles, promoting healthy diets or supporting local food systems. Educating people about the benefits of buying British food, where it comes from and why it matters. Increasing access to fresh, seasonal British produce or helping to relieve food poverty. Leading initiatives that inspire informed, sustainable food choices. Encouraging more people to grow, cook, source, serve and champion British food.

How to enter

Nominations should explain, in no more than 500 words, how the nominee is inspiring others and creating a positive impact. Entries close at midnight on Sunday 11 October 2026.
