New 1100 MT most powerful CVT tractor
Fendt has unveiled its new flagship tractor range, the 1100 Vario MT series. With four models ranging in power output from 521hp to 680hp, the top 1167 MT model is the most powerful tractor with a stepless, or CVT, transmission in the world. Launched at The Farm Progress Show in Iowa on 2 nd September, the MT demonstrates Fendt’s pioneering technology and engineering. Built at the brand’s Jackson factory in Minnesota, the 1100 Vario MT Gen 2 series features an entirely new cab, which includes the familiar FendtONE workstation, a new lighting system and a selection of customisable configurations for the terminals and 3L-joystick. “The new 1100 MT has incorporated the best features of the wheeled tractor range alongside class leading economy and power to help save farmers time and money. The MAN D38 and MAN D42 have updated engine control units, a new Tractor Management System (TMS) and a hydraulic fan system that runs independently of the engine,” says Fendt’s Ed Dennett. The cab configuration includes an armrest with multi-function joystick and freely assignable buttons, a 12-inch armrest terminal, 3L-Joystick and a digital dashboard behind the steering wheel. A second roof mounted terminal is also available as an option. ISOBUS implement control is standard, and there are new agronomy functions including doc task management and telemetry functions. A further option is the Fendt Guide guidance system. “The MT series has the option of our TI Headland management system which automates headland turns and adjusts the height of the implement automatically. A dual pump offers greater oil capacity and pressure and the MT can be specified with up to eight spools. Key to the innovation of the MT is its Mobile Track System (MTS) which helps provide a smooth ride while spreading the weight of the tractor to minimise soil compaction,” adds Mr Dennett.
The MT runs on a 3-metre long twin track that uses 10 metres of tracks to make the system longer lasting than triangular systems. The six-axle track design distributes the nearly 20 tonne weight of the MT, and new Michelin tracks range in width from 18 inches to 36 inches, although the widest available in the UK will be 27.5 inches to keep the overall width of the tractor to 3 metres.
“A two-track design with fewer moving parts provides reduced operating costs and the longer track enables the maximum permissible weight of the MT to increase by 7 tonnes to almost 27 tonnes, with a rear lift capacity of 9 tonnes,” he says.
The MT promises to be easier to live with thanks to dust extraction and passive filter cleaning, easy access oil control and the option of a compressed air connection for cleaning. The MT’s fuel tank has swelled by 16 litres to 1370 litres and an upcoming DLG test should prove fuel economy to be class leading.
“The Fendt 1100 Vario MT series is available to order now from UK dealers and we expect the first machines to be delivered early in 2027,” concludes Mr Dennett.
